Ben Sommerness Obituary, Death – Ben Sommerness, who passed away at the age of 96 and was a native of Hutchinson, Kansas, was found at the Harmony River Living Center, which is also located in the city of Hutchinson. The funeral service, known as the Mass of Christian Burial, will be held at the St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson, and afterward, the body will be laid to rest in the Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. It is planned that Father Jerry Meidl will preside over the wedding as the officiating minister. Organist will be Bev Wangerin. It was determined that Bobbi Ludewig would be in charge of conducting the songs, and she will begin her duties immediately.

At the memorial service, it is planned that renditions of the songs “On Eagle’s Wings,” “Hail Mary: Gentle Woman,” “Amazing Grace,” and “How Great Thou Art” will be given. Throughout the ceremony, the melody “My Wild Irish Rose” will be performed as background music at various points. The privilege of carrying her urn through the procession will be given to each of her grandchildren in turn as they grow older.

The urn will be carried by Ann Simms, Cara de la Barra, Molly Aukes, Susan Reid, Lisa Kremer, Lori Sommerness, and Eric Sommers, who have all donated their services. Ben D. Sommerness was born on the 8th of December in the year 1921 in the city of Faribault, Minnesota. He lived in the state of Minnesota at the time. She inherited the surname of her parents, Ralph Merrill and Mary Margaret “Molly” (Treacy) Merrill, as she was their daughter.

Her parents’ names were Ralph and Mary Margaret “Molly” Ben was confirmed as a member of her faith after she reached the age of majority. Her religious initiation took place at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Faribault, where she was baptized as an infant. Ben was a young adult for each of these religious rites that took place when they were performed. She completed all of her schooling at Bethlehem Academy, culminating in her graduation from Bethlehem Academy High School in the year 1939.

Her whole academic career was spent at Bethlehem Academy. Bethlehem Academy is where she earned her high school diploma. On July 27, 1941, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Faribault, Ben Sommerness presented his son David Joseph Sommerness with an engagement ring and asked for his hand in marriage.  Ben Sommerness’s son was named David Joseph Sommerness. After a while, these two people tied the knot, and as a result, they welcomed five children into the world: Thomas, James, William, Judith, and John “Jack.”
